The purpose of the SNAPCA council is to:
Chair: the Chair provides strategic oversight and direction to SNAPCA and works with the committee and stakeholders to deliver SNAPCA aims.
Deputy Chair: the Deputy Chair supports the development and delivery of the SNAPCA strategy and aims working alongside the Chair, committee and stakeholders.
Secretary: the Secretary will provide organisational support to the Council by arranging Council meetings, the annual SNAPCA AGM, keeping minutes and monitoring finances.
Councillors: Six members of SNAPCA will be invited to stand for election to the SNAPCA Council every two years. Councillors will manage specific strategic objectives of SNAPCA such as education, policy and communications. Councillors will also work with other members of council to inform SNAPCA aims and work plan.
NAPs working in the area of cardiovascular disease in Scotland will be eligible to apply. NAPs may be based in healthcare, academic or policy settings. NAPs employed by the pharmaceutical or device industry will be ineligible to apply. There is no minimum experience required & we welcome applications from those in the early stages of their career as well as those who have an established career in CVD.
The SNAPCA council term will be two years. The council will meet 4-6 times per year. Most of these meetings will be held online with the potential for one meeting in person at our annual conference. In between those meetings there will be communication with the council and council members will support the agreed work streams. It is anticipated that the time commitment would not average more than 4 hours per month inclusive of council meetings.

For the first time we now have a dedicated Association for nurses and allied professionals who work in cardiovascular care in Scotland. This is your chance to help shape this Association, which aims to promote our work, support, educate and develop our staff, provide mentorship for staff wishing to develop a career in CVD and ultimately improve patient care for patients with cardiovascular disease in Scotland.
Support and mentorship will be provided for those who are interested but feel they do not have this experience yet.
